Table Tennis for All
You are invited to play in the forthcoming SUPERLEAGUE on Friday 26th March. Usual mix of £300 prize money, top class games and national ranking points. Full conditions on the attached entry form but as usual an email is all that is required to secure your place .
Players will be required to umpire 2 or 3 matches but as an experiment, you may elect to pay £20 on the night rather than £15 , and this extra money will be used to pay for umpires and relieve you of this responsibility. If you are taking this option you need to indicate this with your reply now.
Get your entries in early to avoid disappointment ! Venue open from 6pm on the night!
The third elite hardbat competition will be held at the Norman Booth Centre in Harlow on Saturday 1st May. Please see the Entry Form for further details.

The entry will be restricted to 32 players. (This may increase to 48 players if we have sufficient entries.
The next round of matches is at BATTS on Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14th March.
Match times are 11.30am and 3.15pm on the Saturday and 10am and 1.45pm on the Sunday. The venue will be open from 10am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday.
Full canteen service with hot food and refreshments will be available throughout.

Finally, we never have enough umpires and can pay limited expenses if you have one available.
It was Welsh Dragon Ryan Jenkins who was victorious. Jenkins got the better of Dean Cundy, Emran Hussain, Euan Liddle, Hubert Noah and Gareth Herbert. The final with Herbert ended in a pulsating 11-5 in the fifth victory. The hit TV Series Heroes has a character called "Denko". Ryan Jenko's rhyming namesake terminates other heroes in this hit BBC programme. This was at least before he was himself terminated and in fact evaporated by another character "Tracy Strauss".
Gareth Herbert, Former England number 1 and Commonwealth Games double Gold Medallist will be holding a coaching course that will be held over two weekends. Those weekends are May 22nd,23rd and June 12th,13 at BATTS table tennis club. Anyone who would like table tennis coaching and wants to improve their game are welcome.
Gareth will be running the camp with Alex Green who has been part of England squads who have gone to Saudi Arabia and Sweden with the England squad.
The Essex County Schools individual championships is at BATTS on Sunday 7th March. You need to attend a school in Essex to be eligible.
It's a really good tournament for all abilities with lots of different age events and consolation singles too. Entry is only £5 per event.

Ilford’s Matthew Spero was the surprise Winner of the Open Singles at the 2010 Essex Closed Table TennisTournament played at BATTS in Harlow over the weekend of Saturday/Sunday 02/03 January.

At a glittering awards ceremony at Tattersalls in Newmarket last night, when the likes of Brawn GP won the team of the year title, Henry Cecil picked up a lifetime achievement award, and Charlotte Edwards from the Ashes winning England Team picked up the Sports personality Award, little BATTS from Old Harlow collected the Community Club of the Year award .
Our superb new coach Aad will be putting on junior coaching from 7pm prompt until 9pm every Friday. Starts tomorrow so please come at 7pm if you wish to take part. All for the usual Friday night fee of £3 so it's a bargain !
